Loving Muslims through Acts of Service
Why acts of service?
To God be the glory!
Because, acts of service reveal the love and heart of Jesus Christ in a concrete way that is easy to see — like a lit candle in a dark room — it cannot be ignored. Because, each believer is created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 2:10
The Lord is at work among Muslims!
The seeds of the Gospel are taking root among Muslims in New York City and abroad. In 2020, while Covid19 caused New York to flounder, over 200 South East Asian, former Muslims were baptized through the ministry of one local missionary at Global Gates. That group includes new believers in New York, the UK and Bangladesh. And, in September 2021, the team at CTU shared, “Seven Bengali Muslims Embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!”
The 2021 presenters offer practical insights from their varied backgrounds. Some work with students, immigrant communities or refugees. Some minister in the NY Metro area and abroad in: South East Asia, the M. E. or Africa. And some are involved in care ministries that provide health care, job training or supplies.
Looking back at how it began:
In 2015, The Heart for Muslims Conference began as a collaboration of ministries and mission agencies across New York City — each dedicated to reaching our Muslim neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Their shared mission birthed out of a desire to join the Lord in the budding disciple-making movement among Muslims in our city and to biblically respond to the growing Muslim communities in our area and across the country. In the New York City metro area alone, an estimated one million Muslims call this place home.
Heart for Muslims’ mission is to equip Christ-followers and connect them for service, ministering to our Muslim neighbors in the Name and Love of Jesus Christ. The vision is to eliminate the fear of Islam and free believers to boldly minister to our Muslim neighbors.
The conference fosters several offspring ministries that continue throughout the year. Annually at the conference, hundreds of believers gather to learn how to engage their Muslim neighbors with the Gospel. Ministry leaders and missionaries come, they learn from one another and help believers develop an effective witness. Each of the conferences focuses on a different aspect of ministry, like: ministering to women and families, evangelism in everyday encounters or service.
